Scott Dental Group – Loudonville & Wooster, OH
If you missed the opportunity to get your teeth straightened when you were younger, or they’ve shifted out of alignment as you’ve aged, you may be hesitant to wear metal braces. Traditional braces are uncomfortable, obvious, and unattractive. But with Invisalign® clear aligners, you can straighten your teeth discreetly and comfortably at any age.
What is Invisalign®?
Invisalign is a set of clear braces or aligners made of clear plastic. They fit snugly over your teeth, gradually moving them into their proper places. You wear each aligner for approximately two weeks, then move to the next one so that your teeth are moved predictably, and you do not have to return to our office every two weeks to adjust braces.
Benefits of Invisalign®
Invisalign has many advantages over conventional braces beyond their appearance, including:
- Faster results: Changing your clear aligners every few weeks means you’ll see results faster.
- Better fit: Invisalign technology means exceptional fit based on computer-aided design, manufacturing, and proprietary SmartTrack® material.
- Treats a wide range of problems: Invisalign clear braces can treat mild to moderate orthodontic issues, including overbite, underbite, crossbite, gaps, and crowding.
- Comfortable: The smooth material of clear aligners is designed for your comfort, ensuring they won’t cut or irritate delicate gum or cheek tissues.
- Discreet: The plastic material is almost invisible and fits firmly over the teeth, ensuring most people won’t notice your Invisalign aligners, giving you the confidence to smile freely.
- Removable: Your clear aligners are easy to remove to eat, drink, brush, and floss. You can also remove them occasionally for special occasions or photographs.
The Invisalign® Process
At your Invisalign consultation, Drs. Scott, Scott, or Straits will determine whether Invisalign is the right treatment for you and take digital images of your teeth and gums. These will be used to create a treatment plan and a 3D model of the mouth. We’ll show you a model of your mouth and how your teeth will look after your treatment is completed.
Your clear braces are made using the 3D images as a guide. When your set of aligners is complete, you will return to our office, and we will check them for proper fit and smooth any rough edges.
For optimal results, you need to wear your Invisalign clear aligners 20-22 hours a day. Take them out only to eat, brush your teeth, and floss. Always wear them when sleeping. Your teeth will gradually shift into place as you change from one set of aligners to the next every few weeks. We typically see our Invisalign patients every six to eight weeks to ensure they progress properly.
Am I a Candidate for Invisalign?
If you can answer “yes” to the following questions, you may be a candidate for Invisalign:
- Are you in good overall health?
- Is your orthodontic issue mild to moderate?
- Can your teeth be straightened without needing surgery?
- Do you have all of your adult teeth?
- Are you responsible enough to wear clear aligners 20-22 hours daily?
- Do you practice good oral hygiene?
- Are you a non-smoker?
- Can you care for and keep track of the aligners?
How Long Does Invisalign® Take to Straighten Teeth?
It depends on the severity of the correction needed. For most patients, Invisalign can correct crooked teeth in 9-16 months, using anywhere from 18 to 30 aligners. However, this varies from patient to patient.
How Much Does Invisalign® Cost?
Because each set of clear braces is individually designed and fabricated, we cannot give you an accurate price until we have evaluated your teeth and determined how many aligners you will need and how long the process will take. At your initial consultation, we will provide you with an accurate estimate of the cost.
